Sandra Chambers is a freelance journalist and writer whose stories have appeared in national, regional, and local magazines and newspapers. In addition to writing, Sandra has also worked as a contributing editor (Wrightsville Beach Magazine), an editorial assistant (New Wine Magazine), and a religious news correspondent in Washington, DC (Charisma Magazine). She has taught workshops on how to write news stories, features, and profiles. Sandra knows and understands what it takes to write a compelling feature story, news article, or service piece.
“I think the best thing about being a writer is getting to interview so many fascinating people,” Sandra says. “I like to find out what makes people tick and surprise the reader with things they don’t already know.” A few of her more famous profiles have included the Rev. Billy Graham, political activist, Lou Sheldon, actress and film stars Linda Lavin, Hilarie Burton, and Chuck Carrington, and TV and movie film casting agent, Mark Fincannon.
Travel writing is also a passion for Sandra. Some of her favorite places she’s visited and written travel stories about include Charleston, South Carolina; Asheville, NC; Calabash, SC; and London, England. She also enjoys doing roundup stories such as her recent “Five Romantic Escapes.” Says Sandra, “I always wanted to be an airline stewardess so I could travel, but now I get to do something even better—travel and then share my experiences through words and pictures.”
Sandra is also a photographer who often takes photos for the stories she writes. She enjoys being able to envision and put together the entire story package.
